What documents do I need to hire a vehicle?

When hiring from our team, please make sure you have a National Insurance Number, Proof of address, Driving licence. No bans or more than 6 points in the last 5 years

Do you provide insurance?

Yes, all of our vehicles are fully insured for your total peace of mind.

How can I pay?

We require payment of the estimated total cost of the rental, including the VAT and deposit (with the exception of approved account holders). Brent Cross Commercials accept all major credit cards - cheques will be accepted at our discretion.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

There is no deposit required however there is a maximum £500 excess for any damage to the vehicle

Do the vehicles come with a supply of fuel?

If you hire a vehicle from us, you will need to pay for any fuel used during the hire period. Any fuel left over at the end of the hire period cannot be credited.

Are there any restrictions on hiring a vehicle?

All hirers and additional drivers must be between the ages of 23 and 70 years old, and all must present a valid driving license and an additional piece of identification. Some vehicles will also have load weight restrictions, but this depends on the vehicle type.

What are the loading weights for your vehicles?

  • Caddy van 500kg
  • Short wheel base transit 1000kg
  • Long wheel base high top transit 1500kg
  • Luton van 1000kg
  • 7.5 tonne truck 3000kg

What happens if the vehicle gets damaged during the hire?

Should the vehicle be damaged during the hire period, the first £500 of damage must be covered by the hirer. Examples of damage could include: tyre and wheel damage, punctures, lost wheel trims, missing fuel caps, broken aerials, loss of car parts or spare wheels, radio breakage, lens and mirror damage, interior damage. Please note that overhead damage to Lutons and buses are not covered by the insurance, and therefore the hirer is responsible for the total cost of repair or replacement. Additionally, if any misuse of the vehicle incurs excessive cleaning charges, the hirer will be responsible for these.

Can I extend the rental period?

Extending your rental period beyond the agreed date shouldn’t be a problem, as long as you inform us in advance. This allows us to extend the insurance, and ensures you avoid any additional excess charges as a result of non-renewal of insurance.

Do you provide rentals to Ireland & Europe?

Yes, though these rentals are available at our discretion and are subject to surcharge and prior arrangement.

Do you offer advanced bookings?

We are happy to offer advanced bookings. Simply phone or fill out our form, and please note that your booking can only be confirmed upon receipt of a deposit or credit card details. Should your reserved vehicle become unavailable, an alternative form of vehicle will be provided for you, from the same or a higher group of vehicle, and only the rate for the model that was originally reserved will be charged.

Can the vehicle be delivered to me?

We are unable to offer delivery to your premises.

What features are available within your vehicles?

All our vehicles are regularly serviced and kitted out with radios or cassette players, rear seat belts, and child seats (subject to availability).

Can I add additional drivers?

Yes, but additional drivers must be added at the beginning of the hire period and at the same time as the hirer. Additional drivers cannot be added at any other time. The number of additional drivers permitted will depend on the type of vehicle you’re hiring, so please feel free to ask our team. All drivers must adhere to the same driving license and identification requirements as outlined earlier.

What happens if I breakdown?

All our vehicles have full 24 hour breakdown and recovery included with any hire. Information on breakdown services can be found on the keyring or from a sticker located in the vehicle.

Do you offer discounts on long periods of hire?

Yes! We are happy to offer discounts on periods of continuous hire that exceed one month. Competitive rates can also be offered for long term contract hire (periods longer than three months), but please ask for more details.

What is your cancellation policy?

We don’t have a cancellation policy, and you’re free to cancel at any time.
